Stephen is a second generation architect and was born
on June 14, 1966 in the Bronx, New York. Having a strong passion to
understand the environment in order to consciously intervene in it,
he studied Environmental Design at the University at Buffalo and went
on to study Architecture at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York.
Upon completing studies, Stephen began his career at his father's NYC firm. In 1994 Stephen moved on to Helpern Architects where he completed noted projects such and the environmentally conscious, Congo Gorilla Forest and Education Center at the Bronx Zoo. In 1997 Stephen took a sabbatical from his position and he, his wife Lorraine and 8 month old son Marco picked up roots and went to live in Florence, Italy in order to live in a society outside the United States and obtain a better perspective of the world we live in. Stephen and his family returned from Italy in 1998 and Stephen took a position as Project Architect for a 500,000 SF corporate headquarters for Hewitt Associates in Norwalk, Connecticut. Upon completion of the project, Stephen helped form Partners For Architecture in Stamford, Connecticut. Stephen is married to Lorraine who is from Dublin, Ireland. Their two children Marco and Cara are seven and three years old respectively. They reside in Stamford, Connecticut. Stephen has a passion for cooking, music, carpentry and traveling.
